Candidates for the position of Schemes Development Manager (Signalling) must have a thorough knowledge of signalling principles and practices and Railway Signalling experience Corporate Membership of the IRSE is referred as is an Honours Engineering Degree or equivalent Experience of managing staff is essential as are IT skills using MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint as well as Lotus Notes and specific packages appropriate to engineering management The Schemes Development Manager (Railway Signalling) will be expected to produce accurate and detailed deliverables and maintain a staff competence action plan The role of Schemes Development Manager (Railway Signalling) will be to ensure the suitable development of signalling schemes to meet client supplied remits and to lead and direct the Signalling Scheme Development Engineering team Day to day duties will include: * Ensuring that the scheme development workload is delivered by a competent and efficiently organised resource * Undertaking the role of 'Head of Signalling Scheme Development' providing technical guidance and leadership * Undertaking the role of 'Contractor's Responsible Engineer - Signalling' for items in the relevant development phase * Developing deliverable scheme proposals * Undertaking Signal Sighting and Signal Overrun Risk Assessments * Delivering the complete package of development phase contract deliverables * Liaising with the Commercial Management team to lead the production of detailed target price packages and budget estimate prices * Liaising with the Planning Manager to produce detailed resourcing plans and programmes * Liaising with the Planning Manager to produce detailed resourcing plans and programmes * Ensuring the collation and transmission of progress information from Scheme Development Engineers * Contributing to the process of standards review from an engineering perspective * Directing the processes for competence management of the engineering workforce deployed for Signalling Scheme Development * Identifying training needs To undertake the above the Signalling Scheme Development Manager must be able to lead and motivate and have excellent inter-personal and presentation skills All new entrants will be subject to a PTS medical and Drug & Alcohol screening OTJ specialises in engineering and engineering related positions.
