The post of Operations Manager exists to establish and maintain an effective
Production Control Programme in accordance with the Aims and Objectives of the company
Accountability.
Responsible to: Responsible for:
Production Director & Technical Director. Operations, Production Control &
Goods-In/Despatch.
Specific Duties And Responsibilities.
The Operations Manager is expected to execute all the following duties in accordance with company policies.
(A) Manage / Co-ordinate.
- To organise and manage the operations team to ensure the efficient running of the department.
- To co-ordinate and manage efficient planning and scheduling for the production of all products ensuring that customer?s quality requirements can be met within agreed delivery timescales.
- To co-ordinate and manage the purchasing and scheduling of all raw materials for production requirements.
- To control and manage all raw material costs on an on-going basis. To discuss and mitigate raw material prices increases.
- To control delivery/carriage and packaging costs.
- To carryout contract review / price reviews on products when required.
- To maintain and update product costings and Customer Agreements on an on-going basis.
- Set-up and agree supply agreements with customers on anon-going basis.
- To attend all staff and management meetings when required.
- To prepare and maintain a cost-based spreadsheet to enable the company to apply a machine hour rate for the purpose of quotation.
- To prepare a job-cost database for every current job running within the company to
provide the Sales Department with information relating to movements in costs as to
enable it to recover any additional monies required by the customer.
- To ensure that accurate stock figures are available and maintained.
- To actively seek competitive quotations for materials and oversee the overall
purchasing policy of the company.
To ensure all staff under your direct supervision are properly trained and have
training plans that are recorded and supervised.
To provide KPI Performance Indices in a timely and efficient manner.
To participate in disciplinary issues when required.
